Carolyn Cotterman - Senior Research Analyst
Carolyn Cotterman’s experience at SPHERE/Acumen began in 2005, when she joined as a Research Analyst after a five-month stint in Central America in which she explored her interest in the incentive structures and outcomes of socially-minded programs through researching loan default correlates among microcredit recipients. Previously, Carolyn deliberated over humanitarian challenges via fellowships with the World Bank in Washington, DC, where she investigated the impact of water privatization on the quality, coverage, and cost of service among Latin American consumers, and The International Rescue Committee in New York City, where she assisted refugees through the resettlement process. As a former engineering student with a love of mathematics and a heart for the social sciences, Carolyn has enjoyed applying quantitative methods to answer questions of societal importance.
